Notes:

The noseslide requires balance, control, and the ability to lock onto a rail or ledge with just the nose of the board. This tutorial goes beyond just landing them—it focuses on how to actually hold your noseslides and slide the full length of the obstacle.

Who This Video Helps

Intermediate skaters who can do boardslides and 50-50s and are ready to learn more technical nose tricks.

What To Watch Closely

  • Lock-on position of the nose: The nose needs to be directly on top of the edge of the obstacle. Watch how the skater positions their weight over the nose on entry.
  • Lean angle for holding the slide: Noseslides require a forward lean. Watch how the skater’s weight keeps the nose locked while allowing the board to slide.
  • Exit technique: Popping out of a noseslide cleanly is its own skill. Notice the small nollie-like pop to clear the obstacle.

Common Mistakes

  • Weight too far back: If you sit back on the tail during a noseslide, the nose lifts off and the trick falls apart.
  • Approaching too fast: Approach at a controlled speed so you can lock on and adjust.

Try This Drill

Find a very low waxed ledge and practice locking into noseslide position without sliding. Just lock on, hold for a moment, and step off. Get comfortable with the weight distribution first.

Dojo Note

Noseslides develop a type of balance that is different from any other trick. Once that balance is familiar, advanced noseslide variations become achievable.

What To Learn Next

Once you can hold a noseslide on flat ledges, try them on rails. Also work on noseslide 180 out, one of the most stylish ways to exit.
